Guiding Principle no 7: We are a learning community.
We have learned and continue to learn in spades, from the young people who choose to come to Bramblewood, from their families, from volunteers, and other adult participants. Our facilitators continually reflect on our practice and question themselves and each other, with courage, humility and love. It is the mostly glorious and occasionally challenging experiences with all these people that have shaped, and will continue to mould The Bramblewood Project.
This is not easy work and runs counter to much, if not all of our collective years of living within communities organised by the principles of patriarchy and colonialism. As such, we continually reflect upon and question our practice to check we are holding these guiding principles central to our practice and decision making, and to help us spot times we might revert to our old ways of assuming positional or age based power; it’s bound to happen, we make efforts to accept this with compassion and to change it with determination.
